Synpl was a PL/SQL parser and static analyzer. Its purpose was to provide better error messages and warnings about dubious constructs, thus helping with bugs that are usually detectable at compile time.
Then it became a C compiler. A toy C compiler, written in Haskell. Turns out monads are not my favourite tools.
Now it's a structured editor. Another toy, an experiment to see if I can bring structured editor a la org-mode to JavaScript (for instance).
I wonder what it will be next year. My guess is the real synpl is just a reason to waste time in front of an ever larger computer screen. And a reason to write half-comprehensible rants (which, I believe, are the worst kind of rants).
